Shots Are No Fun

Today, on his 2 month birthday, Natey had his 2 month doctor's visit, and got some vaccines. One oral and three shots. He did not like the shots! When the nurse stuck in the needle in, his eyes got all wide in shock, his face went beet red, and then he started wailing and the tears streamed down his face. I almost cried with him. It was awful. In his cries of absolute pain, I could hear him asking, "what are you doing to me?!"

Aside from that horror, the visit went well. He is 14 lbs. 7 ozs. and 24 and 1/4 inches long. The sheet they gave me said that was in the 50th percentile, but I don't know. He's been gaining weight like CRAZY and he was in the 75th when he was born, so that doesn't really make sense. Whatever. He's clearly growing well, so who cares what percentile he's in?

He had been giving us a nice 4.5 or 5 hour stretch at night, but that seems to have disappeared. Is it gas because of the one formula bottle? Is it his reflux? Who knows? That's the worst thing about babies. They just can't tell you. All you know is you are getting less sleep because he is and you don't know why. All you can do is try different things, see how it works out, and keep telling yourself, "this too shall pass."

Nate has always grunted and groaned in his sleep, but now he has taken to full on crying in his sleep. He did it for a half hour yesterday morning. I finally just woke him up at 7am and once I did, he was all smiles. Goodness. The doc says it's not unusual and that he may have night terrors later on. I had them as a kid, and she said it runs in families. GREAT.

Anyone want another video? Yes? Here's one of Nate and his big mouth:

Snowed In

I suppose I should post a picture of the fat flakes blowing about outside my window, but it's Saturday (ha, like days of the week mean anything to me right now), and I'm too lazy to take a picture. Looks like Nate's first Christmas might be a white one, if the cold stuff sticks around for a week.

Yesterday for the first time, Nate was actually interested in a story I was reading him. We read The Hungry Caterpillar and he loved it. I guess he's now starting to become interested in bright colors as well as black and white. He's also awake for longer stretches and smiling much more often. See?

Don't you just want to spend hours kissing those cheeks? I certainly do (want to, that is). And Nate is surprisingly tolerant of me kissing all over his face. Can't help myself.

Nate's also become used to his bedtime routine, which is awesome. We do a bath and then I swaddle him, top off his tank, and plunk him in his crib. Last night, he was being quite fussy because he was tired and screaming "put me in bed please!" The second I put him down on his towel in the bathroom and turned on the tap to fill the tub, he quieted right down. He knew what was coming!

Also, Nate's about to step up into Size 2 diapers. ALREADY. He'll be in college before we know it. And morbidly obese.

Good thing I bought diapers before the snow started falling.

The Dawn of a New Blog

What, no punny name? I suppose I could have just continued the old blog. But that blog was more about me and my pregnancy. This here is a one stop shop for all things Nate. I'll try to post pics and video when I can. Don't get your hopes too high. I won't be updating weekly, like last time. In fact, I'm typing this one handed as Nate eats. But I'll do my best.

Let's start off with one of Nate's favorite activities. Enjoy.
